Hema Sane – the professor who continues to live without electricity

81-year-old Hema Sane, a PhD holder in Botany from Savitribhai Phule University and a professor at Garware college Pune, is the personification of living a minimalistic life. In an era where nobody can imagine sustaining without electricity, Hema Sane have attained outstanding achievements including writing more than 20 books without electricity for the past 62 years.

Hema ji continues her ancestral ethos. Her lifestyle and love for nature and its creations are based on the six ‘R’s -Reduce, Recycle, Refuse, Respect and Restore. Even after being alien to using the technological advancements, she has an abundance of knowledge in vivid topics. She practices what she preaches, which makes her standout from the rest of the world. She has been and still continuing her quest to conserve nature and inspire others to lead a sustainable and zero waste life, without expecting anything back.
